Blue Devils looking to make it two in a row

Posted in:

WYNOT — Welcome to the big time, Wynot Blue Devils.

The Blue Devils bounced back from a tough loss at the defending champions from Humphrey St. Francis the previous week to put on a beatdown of local heavyweights Bloomfield, 32-6 in Wynot Friday night.

Anthony Haberman ran for 139 yards and a touchdown while throwing for 75 yards and another score and Owen Sudbeck ran for 112 yards on 16 carries and scored three touchdowns. Peyton Wieseler and Garrett Lange had 30 tackles between the pair coming from the defensive tackle positions.

“Which means we were playing in their backfield most of the night,” Wynot head coach Steve Heimes said.

Wieseler also accumulated 271 yards on six kickoffs as the defense kept Bloomfield’s running game in check to only three-yards per carry and 128 total yards.

“We played a very physical game for four quarters,” Heimes said. “We had too many turnovers (4) and penalties in the game that set us back on offense on a few drives.”

Next up is a home game at 6 p.m. Friday against visiting Homer.

“We have never played Homer in football before,” Heimes said. “We expect another physical game but they will spread us out and throw the ball.”
