Betty E. Heitman

COLERIDGE — Betty E. Heitman, 94, Coleridge, died March 30, 2018, at Park View Haven Nursing Home, Coleridge. Visitation was Tuesday morning, at church, prior to service time. Funeral Services were April 3, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Coleridge, with the Rev. Russ Lambert officiating. Burial was at the Lawn Ridge Cemetery, Coleridge. Pallbearers were Dakota Heitman, Brady Heitman, Kobe Heitman, Boyd Janssen, Larry Janssen, and Steve Nordby. Honorary pallbearers were Jeremy Hansen and Cole Heitman. Arrangements were under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home, Coleridge. Betty Ellen Heitman was born Jan. 13, 1924, in Hartington, to Irvin and Mabel (Carlson) Dewey. Betty graduated from Coleridge High School in 1941. She married Donald Heitman Aug.14, 1947, in the Lutheran Parsonage, Coleridge. Betty worked at the Coleridge Bank for 25 years. She played the organ at the nursing home for over 30 years and also at the Embers Assisted Living, and Randolph nursing home. Betty was a member of Immanuel Lutheran and held offices in the Ladies Aide. She and Don loved to dance. Betty is survived by her husband, Donald; son, Dennis Heitman and fiancee, Lisa Schlumbohm, Coleridge; six grandchildren; three step grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; maternal nieces and nephews, Jean Fitch and husband, John Justice, Belle Vista, Ark.; Van Fitch, Wisconsin; Rev. Russell and wife, Janiece Sizemore, Wahoo; Sandra and Mike Carroll, Omaha; and Kim Fitch and husband, Rev. Paul Bud, Independence, Mo. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Leila (Tibbie) Fitch and Shirley Sizemore.
