Becker is following in the steps of past Cedar Catholic greats

Posted in:

HARTINGTON — Easton Becker did his part this year to keep the tradition alive.

Becker finished the 2020 campaign with 1,457 rushing yards on 254 carries, an average of 5.7 yards per carry for the Trojans. Becker’s achievement marks the 10th

Becker’s achievement marks the 10th time in the past 12 years that a Cedar Catholic athlete has carried the ball for at least 1,000 yards during the season.

This marks the 21st time in school history a runner has gained at least 1,000 yards on the ground in a single season.

His biggest one-game performance of the year came in the season opener when he rushed for 204 yards to help the Trojans defeat O’Neill, 19-16.

He also eclipsed the 200-yard mark with a 201-yard performance against Crofton. He only failed to eclipse the 100-yard mark once during Cedar’s 8-3 campaign. Oakland-Craig limited him to just 30 yards in the Knights 52-14 defeat of the Trojans in early October.

Becker’s exceptional season puts him in seventh place on the Cedar Catholic all-time season rushing charts, one notch below his cousin, Ryan Becker.

Ryan Becker rushed for a careerbest 1,564 yards in 2014.

Chad Koch is the school’s leader in single-season rushing. He gained 2,475 yards in 2009 for Cedar’s state runner-up team.

Easton Becker, a junior, has another year to try and work his way up the career all-time rushing list at the school.

The all-time list is also led by Chad Koch, who rushed for 5,847 yards from 2006-09. Jacob Kaiser finished his career in 2019 in second place on the all-time list.
