Barbara J. Hangman

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — Barbara J. Hangman, 68, Sioux Falls, S.D., formerly of Wynot, died Oct. 27, 2019, at the Ava’s House in Sioux Falls, SD.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Nov. 2, at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family (Sacred Heart) Catholic Church, Wynot, with the Rev. Jim Keiter officiating.

Burial will be at the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Wynot, at a future date.

Visitation with her body present will be Saturday, from 9 a.m. until service time.

Pallbearers will be James Wuebben, Ian Bishop, Tony Skufca, Brett Skufca, Travis Olander and Ryan Olander.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home, Hartington.

Barbara Jean was born December 20, 1950, in Cleveland, Ohio to Charles and Mary (Kelce) Skufca. She grew up in Cleveland and graduated from North High School, East Lake, Ohio. Barbara received her Cosmetology degree while in high school. She rented a chair in a local shop and then she and a friend opened Shears Inc. in Ohio in 1982. Barbara married Rodney A. Hangman March 12, 1977, in Mentor, Ohio. She and Rodney lived in Euclid, Ohio, until moving back to the Hartington/ Wynot area in 1990.

Barbara loved spending time with her grandchildren and her family.

Barbara is survived by her daughter, Michelle Hangman and (James Wuebben), Sioux Falls, S.D., and son, Michael Hangman, Bayport, Minn.; three grandchildren, Leigha, Ian and Jessie; two sisters, Peg Skufca and Mary Skufca, both of Willoughby, Ohio; two brothers, John (Sherri) Skufca, Ft. Wayne, Idaho; Tony Skufca, East Lake, Ohio; brother-in-law, Jim Olander, Newcastle; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Rodney, April 13, 2017, at the age of 68; and sister, Therese Olander.
