Ashly Renae (Heikes) Carter was born Feb. 25, 1986, in Yankton, S.D., to David and Janelle (Potts) Heikes. She grew up in Hartington and graduated from Hartington Public School in 2004. Ashly attended Iowa Lakes Community College, Estherville, Iowa, where she earned her associate of applied science degree. She also played volleyball and received Juco All-American Honors. Ashly continued her love for volleyball at Adams State University in Alamosa, Colo., for another year before deciding she wanted to be closer to family. It was then that she began the Physical Therapy Assistant program at Northeast Community College, Norfolk. After graduation, Ashly worked for Tabitha Healthcare, Lincoln, for three years as a physical therapy assistant. She then moved to Tampa, Fla., in the fall of 2011. In 2012, she met Donovan and they lived in Tampa until moving to Omaha in 2015. Ashly then began working for Omaha Nursing and Rehab.

Ashly and Donovan had their first child, Mia, in 2014. Since then, they have had two more daughters, Riley and Zoey.

Ashly was an amazing mother and wife. Her family was her first priority. She was meticulous and organized and the most thoughtful person you could meet. She enjoyed planning parties for the girls, spending time at the family cabin, and coming up with the funniest Christmas gifts.

Ashly is survived by her husband, Donovan, Omaha; three daughters, Mia, Riley and Zoey; parents, David and Janelle Heikes, Hartington; grandmother, Judith Heikes, Hartington; two sisters, Shandi (Blake) Bartels and sons, Payton, Paxton, Porter and Princeton Bartels, Crofton; Nikki Heikes (Trevor Petersen and son, Royce), Omaha; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ernest and Darlene Carter, Tampa, Fla.
