Area residents are recognized for their Christmas spirit

HARTINGTON – Hartington area residents did their very best to light up the night and decorate for the Christmas season this year.

Seventeen local residents signed up to be in this year's Hartington Chamber of Commerce Home Lighting Contest.

Gordon and Kathy Yunker, 507 Dooley Drive, were named this year's winners.

Nick and Brittny Burbach, 108 North Capitol Ave., were named the second-place winners.

Brandon and Traci Baller picked up third-place honors for the way they decorated their home at 306 S. Dulain Ave.

The Hartington Chamber of Commerce is presenting Chamber Bucks to the three winners.

Area residents had from Dec. 1 to Dec. 17 to drive Hartington's streets to view all the decorated homes in the community and then pick their winners.

The ballots were then placed in the Hartington Public Library Book Return box and then tabulated by Chamber of Commerce members.

Organizers were pleased with the turn out as nearly 100 ballots were cast for this year's lighting contest.
