Area girls will wind up the regular season this week

CEDAR CATHOLIC Games this Week: Thursday vs. Battle Creek, Friday at Pierce Outlook: It was a busy slate of Mid-States Tournament games for the Lady Trojans (7-10) last week as they dropped two of three games. Abby Hochstein and Brynn Wortmann paced the squad in a loss to Crofton while Makenna Noecker and Aiden Wortmann also put up big numbers during the week. Last week’s results: Lost to Crofton 53-39, Beat Pierce 46-42 in OT, Lost to O’Neill 48-46 Coach Craig Wortmann’s Comments: “We played Crofton close for three quarters. Against Pierce, our leading scorer Brynn Wortmann was out with the flu. Our defense and team plays continues to grow and helps us to battle our tough schedule. “Against O’Neill, We again were without Brynn Wortmann and Makenna Noecker for this game due to illness.  We hope to be back in good health for next week’s games.”

HARTINGTON-NEWCASTLE Games this Week: Friday at Wynot Outlook: SubDistrict play is on the horizon and that means teams need to find their mojo in the next few days. That includes the Lady Wildcats who come off of a tough loss in the Lewis and Clark Conference tournament. They fell down by 12 early and recovery became hard to come by. Last week’s results: Lost to Winnebago 78-51 Coach Josh Morten Comments: “Wynot is playing very well right now so we need to come out focused and ready to go. This is good preparation for postseason play.”

RANDOLPH Games this Week: Friday at Crofton Outlook: Grace Nordhues and Emmallee Harder keyed the win this week for the Lady Cardinals who took a consolation round win at the conference tournament, Last week’s results: Beat Walthill 39-30 Coach Marcus Pappenhausen Comments: “Many girls got a lot of playing time. We didn’t  play our best but we were able to come away with our fifth win of the year.” “Crofton is always a very difficult game. Just hope to do some good things and limit what they do a little bit. Enjoy the experience of playing such a good team and learn something from it. I can’t believe this is last week of regular season. We are playing better and girls are really starting to improve. Hope we continue to see that this week and look forward to seeing what post season has in store for us.”

WYNOT Games this Week: Friday vs. Hartington/Newcastle Outlook: The champion Lady Blue Devils got big performances from Katelyn Heimes and Michaela Lange and Karley Heimes in the two wins last week during the conference tournament. Last week’s results: Beat Bloomfield 61-33, Beat Homer 41-32
