April Fools Day joke takes on life of its own

Posted in:

HARTINGTON — An April Fools Day joke in the April 1 Cedar County News caused more than a little confusion with some area residents.

The Cedar County News published two fictitious front page articles in the April 1 edition.

One story featured Ben and Erin Schroeder. The article stated the local couple was planning to start a toilet paper factory in order to help fill a local void created by a rush on toilet paper.

The other article focused on Hartington entrpreneur Josh Anderson.

Anderson runs Anderson Aerial in Hartington, a business that utilizes drones to photograph and video area places and events.

The article focused on a make-believe food delivery company Anderson created to help the Hartington restaurants stay in operation during the pandemic.

The Facebook feedback ranged from everything to omical comments to people misunderstanding the point of the articles.

Anderson said he had no problem being the subject for the joke, as everybody needs something to laugh about these days.

The full article can be found in the April 1 Cedar County News E Edition.
