Andrew Thomas Fredricksen

LAUREL — Andrew Thomas Fredricksen, 52, Laurel, died Nov. 17, 2020, at Faith Regional Hospital, Norfolk, after complications with Covid-19.

Celebration of Life Services with his family present will be held on the farm at a later date.

Andy was born Aug. 2, 1968, in Wayne, to Thomas Morten and Shirley Kay (Mattes) Fredricksen. He was a special birthday gift being born on his dad’s birthday. Andy attended Laurel-Concord School and graduated in 1986. He attended Northeast Community College, Norfolk, and then graduated from Wayne State College. He worked for years at Children’s’ Square in Council Bluffs, Iowa, with abused and neglected children. He had a special way with children and the elderly. Later in his life, he moved back to the family farm after being diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy. He worked at the Hillcrest Care Center, Laurel, and was blessed to help care for his Grandma.

Andy’s hobbies included watching football, his greatest passion. He loved reading, playing games, watching movies and purchasing fireworks every year for his family, nieces and nephews, to enjoy on the 4th of July. Anyone who knew him knew his loving, caring and selfless nature. He had a gift to visit for hours with anyone who wanted to talk. Andy is survived by his parents, Tom and Shirley Fredricksen,

Andy is survived by his parents, Tom and Shirley Fredricksen, Laurel; sister, Julie (Dennis) Hart, Laurel; sister, Shelly (Brad) Rath, Coleridge; brother, Jon Fredricksen (Jean) Laurel; nephews, Josh and Justin Hart, Laurel; Drew Tilley, Council Bluffs, Iowa; nieces, Stephanie Love, Norfolk; Amy Rohde, Laurel; and Katie Henning, Brandon, S.D.; and 10 great-nieces and nephews.

Andrew was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Earl and Dorothy Mattes; paternal grandparents, Morton and Florence Fredricksen; an uncle, Franklin Mattes; and great-nephew, Wyatt Hart.
