Alfred J. Schieffer

OMAHA — Alfred J. Schieffer, 88, Omaha, died Feb. 4, 2021.

Alfred was born Feb. 13, 1932, with twin brother, Wilfred, to Anton and Clara (Feldhacker) Schieffer on a farm near Crofton. He attended District 56 County School, and after graduating from the eighth grade, he worked on the farm until 1954, when he moved to Yankton, S.D. There he worked various jobs and married Arlene (Mach), and raised David (Yen), Daniel, Pamela, Steven, Patricia and Scott (Margaret).

Then in 1982, Alfred moved to Omaha and worked with his brother, Francis, owner of Frank’s Tree Service. Alfred remarried Donna (Knapp) in November 1994 and helped raise Sharyl, Troy (Missy) and Joe.

Alfred enjoyed bowling, dancing the JitterBug, playing cards, singing country Karaoke and watching Nebraska Football. He would always be ready with a great joke, along with his warm happy smile and positive attitude.

He was preceded in death by parents; twin siblings; twin brother Wilfred; brothers-in-law, Francis Dreesen, Jack Bargstad and Steve Samelson; and sister-in-law, Del Rae Schleifer.

He is survived by his wife, Donna; his children; 11 siblings, Adaline, James (Joan), Anthony, Ramona, Robert (Mary), Betty (Carney), Francis (Joleen), Laverda (John), Ronald (Donna), Donna (Paul) and Diane (Keith); grandchildren; great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
