HARTINGTON—Highway 15 from Laurel to Hartington could get a new name soon.
The topic was one of several brought up during a State Department of Roads meeting in Laurel. Under consideration is a possible switch between Highway 57 and Highway 15.

PLEASANT VALLEY—Corn and soybean yields and estimates on what the crop condition is are as spotty as recent rainfall amounts.
In this year of violent storms, spotty downpours and scorching drought, the crops in some areas has withstood weather conditions very well. In other areas of Cedar County, crops have been showing signs of stress for some time.

HARTINGTON—All four of Cedar County’s Class C2 schools will compete in the same football district this year. That means Hartington, Cedar Catholic, Laurel-Concord and Randolph will all compete for the District 3 title.

LINCOLN—Another dream has come true for Hartington native Russ Hochstein. Hochstein, a senior offensive lineman for the University of Nebraska Cornhusker football team, was named as one of six cocaptains for the 2000 season.
