Law Log June 16: Hartington resident called in to report a tree branch had fallen and is now blocking a street.

Officer called in to report, “there are quite a few trees down in Laurel./

June 17: Laurel ambulance called to assist an elderly woman who is not feeling well and has a high temperature.

Ambulance call for an elderly Hartington woman who is not feeling well and is sounding confused.

June 18: Man called to ask if he was in trouble. “I just want to see if I’m in hot water, (an officer) pulled me over awhile ago and asked to search my truck and I said go ahead.” Dispatcher said he had not heard or seen anything. “Oh, thank Jesus. S.D. and Iowa said I’m good there, too.”

Burn permit issued for Cedarview Country Club in Laurel.

Coleridge assisted living facility called for an ambulance to take a resident to the hospital in Wayne.

A man called to report there is a semi truck headed north on Highway 81 just south of the Hartington turn that is tailgating people and passing wildly.

June 19: Woman driving west of St. Helena reported Seeing a middle-aged man walking on the road. He looked out of place. She just wanted to make sure law enforcement was aware in case there were any issues.

Caller reported a case of fraud. “I think my wife got scammed yesterday. I know it was a scam. I walked in and she was on the phone talking to someone who wanted her insurance card information and her Social Security number.” He was advised to contact the Social Security office and his insurance company. Burn permit issued for Gerald Fischer.

Man stopped in to report a possible sexual assault on his four year-old daughter.

Report of an accident comes in from Life-360. Dispatch contacted the man involved. He said he was riding his dirt bike and hit a big rock. The phone must not have liked the jolt and it called for emergency services. He's fine, though, and does not need assistance.

Caller reported there is a dead deer that is really a traffic hazard in the middle of Highway 81 near Jerry’s Hilltop. People are taking the ditch to avoid it.

Sheriffs office is contacted about an alarm going off at a Randolph hardware store.

Caller reports a possible suicide attempt on the Meridian Bridge.

June 20: Laurel ambulance dispatched for a woman who is having seizures.

Laurel resident calls in to ask for someone to do traffic control for a funeral.

Randolph ambulance is paged out for a man that is unable to get out of bed.

Coleridge woman calls for medical assistance because of issues with her heart. Coleridge ambulance is paged out.

June 21: Hartington woman has fallen in her house and needs medical assistance to get up. The Hartington ambulance was paged out.

Highway 20 driver called to report he was just passed by a car with Colorado plates that had to be going at least 80 miles per hour.

Caller reported that a stop sign on Highway 84 has been knocked down and needs to be fixed.

Man called wondering if it would be all right to pitch a tent near the fish station at the dam. He was told that would not be advisable.

Burglar alarm sounds at Laurel Dollar General. Officer responds and does a walk-through but finds nothing out of the ordinary.

Coleridge woman seeking medical assistance for her heart. An ambulance was paged out.

Neb. Department of Transportation called in to report they do not see a sign of a downed stop sign. Dispatcher said he would contact reporting party for more information. NDOT called back to report they now have the stop sign fixed.

June 22: Hartington caller reports she received a call from a 256 phone number. She’s pretty sure it’s a scam, but wants law enforcement to be aware of it. She was advised not to give them any information if they call back.
