Career change brings new teacher to Laurel

LAUREL — Looking to make a difference in the Laurel community, Bryce Holcomb stepped away from corporate accounting and into education.

Now joining the Laurel Concord Coleridge Public School staff, the Lincoln native will be teaching high school business and elementary keyboarding.

After graduating from Wayne State College in 2022 with a bachelor’s degree in public accounting and a second concentration in finance, he worked as a senior tax accountant for the last four years.

Hoping to inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs and financially savvy students, Holcomb joined the education system.

“I wanted to make a difference in my career and felt like working in a school would satisfy that desire,” said Holcomb. “I enjoy that I will get to help the youth find their inner entrepreneur and help them grasp important concepts in financial literacy that I hope will last them a lifetime.”

In the school system, he will also be coaching and advising FBLA, cross country and track and field. He also said he coached high school cross country and track for two years at Northridge High School in Greeley, Colo., and ran track and cross country all five years in college. Holcomb said he got married this summer and has returned to Nebraska with their beloved dog and cat to be closer to family. “I also enjoy the family values that Nebraska has and the variety of communities it has to offer. It is a great state to be an educator,” said Holcomb. As the school year approaches, Holcomb said he is prepared to meet his new students and is excited to support them throughout the year.

“I am most excited to create fun and engaging lessons,” he said. “I am excited to join LCC schools and look forward to growing in the school and the community.”
