LAUREL — Claire Krapel is anxious and excited to get to know her Laurel-Concord- Coleridge High School students Krapel joins the teaching team, teaching sophomore and senior English and coaching color guard. “I’ve been in color guard for six years, two in high school and four in college. I’m thrilled to get the chance to teach what I’ve learned over the years,” said Krapel.
The Aurora native just graduated in May from Wayne State College with a degree in secondary English and theatre education.
She loves reading, writing, music, crocheting, video games, board games and spending time with friends and family.
“I’ve lived in Nebraska nearly my whole life and have come to love the state. I lived in the central area and went to college here in the northeast. I love the people I get to meet and work with,” said Krapel.
Her past jobs include working at a clothing store, a barista, a summer camp counselor, a substitute teacher, a restaurant hostess and an assistant speech coach at Wayne High.
Krapel said her love for English and literature was fostered by her own teachers and plans to do the same for her students.
“Growing up, there have always been teachers along my journey who’ve encouraged my love of writing, literature and seeking to learn more,” said Krapel. “I want to be able to encourage students to pursue the things they enjoy and foster an excitement about learning.”
With the start of the school year now here, Krapel said she is prepared to meet and engage with her new students.
“I’m excited to be part of this wonderful community and be an LCC Bear,” said Krapel. “I’m so excited to get to have meaningful discussions and help students make connections on a deeper level.”
