HARTINGTON— Skyrocketing gas prices have prompted the Cedar County Commission to make a change with the county Handi-bus.
The bus is designed to help handicapped and elderly county residents get to important out-of-town doctor’s appointments and for excursions to area communities.
The new Handi-bus is not very economical with today’s high gas prices, and often times only has a few riders on it, said Commission Chairman Marlen Kraemer. Commissioners purchased a 2004 Chevy Malibu Classic to be used in place of the Handi-bus whenever possible.
