RANDOLPH — Gary Hicks, youthful Randolph pitcher, has signed a contract for spring training with the Chicago Cubs. He returned Sunday night from Des Moines, Iowa where he had tried out with the Cubs. He reports for training on March 1, 1951.

RANDOLPH — Lewis Copple of Randolph is among 37 students who are taking educational tour, sponsored by the state teacher colleges through the eastern states and Canada.

RANDOLPH — Sister M. Gottlieb, O.S.F. observed her golden Jubilee as a member of the Order of the School Sisters of St. Frances in Randolph August 15.
Rev. Michael Kelly celebrated the Jubilee High Mass in her honor. Sister M. Gottlieb is the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Ostenhorf.
She has been a nurse at St. Mary’s Hill in Milwaukee, Wis. the past 48 years.

RANDOLPH — A Jubilee Mass on Sunday at St. Frances de Chantal Church in Randolph observed the Golden Anniversary of Sister M. Suso as a sister in the Order of the School Sisters of St. Frances.
The former Rose Kessler is the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Leo Kessler. A family dinner was held by her brother, Joe Kessler.

RANDOLPH — St. Frances High School students and a member of the faculty, Sister M. Amator, are attending the sixth annual Great Plains conference on the Lay Apostate this week at Creighton University in Omaha. The students are Sue Kuhl, Carol Stueckrath, Linda Vierqutz, Linda Wattier, Joe Hatrz and Lynn Wattier.

RANDOLPH — Jean Huwaldt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Keith Huwaldt, gave the winning 4-H demonstration on Thursday in Pierce.
The title of her demonstration was “Let’s Bake Bread.” She will give her demonstration at the State Fair in Lincoln. Barbara Wattier won a purple on her demonstration, “Ready, Aim, Fire.”
This was on proper use and adjustment of cameras.

RANDOLPH — Pfc. Eugene F.C. Rohloff left on Saturday for active training with the 134th Infantry of the National Guard at Camp Riley, Little Falls, Minn.
