On Aug. 4 the Hartington EMS and Volunteer Fire Department were called to a mock disaster drill involving a pickup truck that had overturned into a deep ravine with multiple victims. The two departments worked this drill as if it was a real life situation, as only a few of the members knew the drill would be taking place. The crews do regular training like this throughout the year to help them prepare for any situation that may arise. — Kellyn Dump, Cedar County News
