New school year will begin here next week

RANDOLPH — Summer is almost over for Randolph area students as school bells will ring at Randolph Public Schools on Thursday, Aug. 14.

Prior to the start of the new school year, school officials are holding an elementary school open house Aug. 12 to get the younger students more accustomed to their surroundings. That event will run from 5-6:30 p.m.

The start of fall practice for the new sports season begins Monday, Aug. 11.

The Nebraska School Activities Association mandates that schools cannot begin practicing for the Fall sports of football, volleyball, golf and cross country until Aug. 11.

Some of the Cardinals early season athletic contests include a home volleyball triangular against Homer and Cedar Catholic on Thursday, Aug. 28. That same day, cross country teams travel to Hartington to begin their season.

On Friday Aug. 29, the Cardinal football team gets the 2025 gridiron campaign underway when it travels to Chambers to take on Chambers-Wheeler Central.
