2010: Sellon donations aid golf course projects

RANDOLPH — Joedy & Marlene Sellon have made a generous donation to the Randolph Community Golf Course.

The donation was given for the purpose of two projects that have now been completed. A welcome sign has been placed near the front door of the clubhouse.

The sign is made of black granite stone, it is three foot in diameter and etched with Randolph Community Golf Course and the date the course was established.

Also, this spring a two-rail Country Estate fence, installed by Bob Kint, replaced the old cable fence just east of the clubhouse.

RANDOLPH — Dan Tunink established Diversified Insurance when he had the opportunity to purchase Marvin and Evelyn Van Slyke’s property and casualty business.

Tunink also purchased the former Bell Telephone building at 111 South Douglas for his business in Randolph. Tunink started out in the business world by selling real estate in 1978. The following year he launched into the insurance business by selling life, health and disability for the Bill Norvell Agency in Laurel.

Tunink opened Diversified Insurance in 1980 and is still at the same location. Diversified Insurance offers a full line of insurance.

RANDOLPH — The days leading up to last Sunday’s auction were bittersweet for members of the Andrew family as they sifted through family heirlooms accumulated from more than 100 years.

The items came from what could likely be the longest in-town single-family occupancy of a residence.

George and Lillie Andrew constructed the house at 512 S. Douglas Street back in 1902. The couple had four children, George Jr., Ruth, Wier and Paul.

RANDOLPH — Amy Frohberg, a 1999 graduate of Randolph High School has had a busy summer getting her singing career off the ground. On July 5, she participated in the Gold Medal Talent search in Norfolk, where she won the gold medal in her division.

The win entitled her to perform in Lincoln at the Cornhusker State Games where she competed against gold medal winners from 11 cities throughout Nebraska. She earned the silver medal in the vocal category.
