School will start here next week

LAUREL — Summer is almost over for Laurel area students as school bells will ring at Laurel-Concord-Coleridge School on Aug. 14.

The start of fall practice for the new sports season begins Monday, Aug. 11. The Nebraska School Activities Association mandates that schools cannot begin practicing for the Fall sports of football, volleyball, golf and cross country until Aug. 11.

The Bears first athletic contest of the new season will take place Tuesday Aug. 26 when the girls golf team travels to Hartington. On Thursday, Aug. 28, the volleyball team will open the 2025 campaign at Battle Creek and the cross country team will begin the season at Hartington. On Friday, the Bear football team hosts West Point Guardian Angels at Felber Field.
