WYNOT — The Wynot Expos raced to a 7-2 lead over the Tabor Bluebirds in the finals of the South Dakota Class B District VI finals at Terry Foxhoven Field, but saw the Bluebirds claim the district title with a 17-7 win after a 12-run sixth inning which shortened the contest to just seven innings due to the 10-run rule.
Tabor scored a couple of runs in the first inning, but the Expos answered in the top of the third frame.
A single by Nathan Wieseler opened the Wynot half of the fourth then a Carson Wieseler hit left runners on second and third.
Jackson Sudbeck worked a walk then a Jalen Wieseler single scored his brothers and left Sudbeck on second base.
Lee Heimes chased Sudbeck home with another single leaving runners on first and second and nobody out.
After an infield fly and a fielder’s choice, the Bluebird defense helped out with an error on a Zack Foxhoven ground ball towards the shortstop.
Jalen Wieseler scored on the play to finish the Expos scoring in the frame.
In the fourth, Wynot used a walk and a couple of singles combined with another error by Tabor to score three more runs and take the 7-2 lead.
Sudbeck and Heimes singled in the inning, Carson Wieseler opened the stanza with a walk.
Wieseler scored on the Heimes single, Sudbeck scored on a passed ball and Heimes came around and eventually scored on a Landon Wieseler line out to right field.
The score remained 7-2 until the Bluebirds posted the 2-run fifth then the fateful 12-run sixth which basically put the game out of reach.
Wynot will open the 2025 South Dakota Class B Amateur Baseball Tournament Aug. 8 in a game with the Milbank Firechiefs in Brandon, SD.
