Drones are efficient way to spray crops

RANDOLPH — A new way of spraying the crops has moved into the Randolph area.

Drone spraying is an efficient way to spray the crops. The drones can spray 50 acres an hour. With the drones, the cooler the weather, the better. If the weather is hot and humid the spray will evaporate before it hits the crops.

The drones are programmed with the parameters that a person wants sprayed. The machine then sprays that area. When the battery is running low the drone knows where it is supposed to land to recharge.

A drone flying licence is required from the FAA in order to fly the dronesandd many stipulations go into owning the drone. The drones being used here are owned by Brent Albers, Justin Koehler, Dustin Thompson and Grant Settje.

Two drones worked recently to spray this Randolph area corn field. The drones, flown by Jerad Gubbels, can be programed for any specific field and can spray up to 50 acres per hour.
