Hartington Dayz returns Aug. 2

HARTINGTON — Hartington's big summer celebration is about to take flight.

The annual Hartington Dayz celebration will take place Saturday, Aug. 2.

Organizers have put together a day of bargain hunting, family fun, food trucks and a first-class street dance.

The City Council agreed to shut down much of Broadway Street downtown for Saturday's event. The road through Felber Park will also be will be shut down Saturday morning for a fun run through the park.

Vendor booths and food trucks are again expected to line Broadway Street this year. Many downtown stores are also planning sidewalk sales to coincide with the event, although some stores have indicated their bargains will be in the stores. Rummage sales are also planned for the day.

Hartington FCCLA Chapter will once again conduct rubber duck races for the kids. Those races will begin at 11 a.m. between the Hartington Veterans Memorial and First Chiropractic.

Other events designed specifically for the youngsters include a foam party, a kid zone and a magic art bus.

Food vendors that have already signed up for the event include: Rollin' Backyard BBQ, Mama Mechs, Sweet Thangs, Crofton Haymarket, Gold Star Concessions and a fundraiser for the League of Heroes wrestling program.

The event will conclude with the street dance with Whiskey Tango Foxtrot once again bringing their mix of pop, rock and country music to downtown Hartington.
