GRAND ISLAND — Four Cedar County youth claimed honors when they competed at the State Horse Show July 12-16 at Fonner Park.
For Chelsea Potts, daughter of Jackie and Lee Potts of Laurel, this was her final year competing at the State Horse Show.
She received fourth place in Senior Showmanship, eighth place in Senior Western Pleasure and a purple in Horsemanship with her horse All About the Genes, better known as Gracie. Chelsea has been riding in 4-H since she was eight years old and completed at the State 4-H Horse show every year she was eligible.
Kassydi Anderson, daughter of Susan and Shawn Anderson of Hartington, has now been show‑ing her horses in 4-H for seven years.
This is Kassydi’s fourth year competing at the 4-H state horse show in Grand Island. She com‑petes in Pole Bending and Barrel Racing. This year on her horse, Nine Bars Cisco, she got top blue in Sr. Pole Bending and she made the finals in Sr Barrel Racing and got third place overall. This event is something she looks forward to every year.
Kody Junck, son of Kerrie Dendinger and Brian Junck of Randolph, has also been quite competitive at the State Horse Show throughout his years in 4-H.
This year Kody earned third place in 3-year-old Snaffle Bit Western Pleasure, fourth place in 2-year-old Snaffle Bit Western Pleasure, a blue in Sr. Ranch Plea‑sure, sixth place in both Working Ranch Horse and Sr. Pole Bending and tenth place in Senior Barrel.
While Brantlee Dendinger, daughter of Kerrie and Tyler Dendinger of Randolph may be the youngest competing from Cedar County at only nine years old, she certainly holds her own.
She came home with sixth place in Western Pleasure Pony, third place in Junior Pole Bending, Re‑serve Champion in Junior Ranch Pleasure, and Grand Champion in Junior Barrel.
