RANDOLPH — Randolph High School graduate Dylan Loberg was named the Northeast Nebraska Male Academic Athlete of the Year this summer.
Loberg finished his four-year career at RHS with a 3.91 GPA and as co-valedictorian, while participating in multiple sporting events.
“I was pretty honored, it took a lot of hard work to do that,” Dylan said. “It payed off.”
The list of achievements put Loberg into a class of his own. The Randolph football team went 7-3 in 2014 with Loberg rushing for 1,541 yards and 26 touchdowns, while averaging 9.4 yards per carry. The team went to four straight State Playoff appearances and two Quarterfinal appearances.
As a freshman running back, Dylan finished 130 yards shy of 1,000 yards (while missing one full game of action.) He just missed out on becoming only the fifth Nebraska High School football player to ever rush for 1,000 yards in each of his four seasons.
He was also the most dominant 195-pound wrestler in the state this year, finishing the season as the Class D state champion and with a perfect 48-0 record.
He pinned all four of his opponents at the State Tournament in the first period.
He also set the Class D single season pin record with 42 pins this year.
Loberg placed fifth, fourth and second his first three years and finished with a career record of 149-16.
