1995: Lil’s Ladies marks its 10th anniversary

RANDOLPH — The 1995 “Good Neighbor” and “Employee of the Year” Awards were handed out July 18 at the fair. “Good Neighbor Award” went to lifelong Randolph community member Karen McDonald. The “Employee of the Year Award” went to Diversified Insurance employee Marcia Gubbels.

RANDOLPH — Randolph citizens gathered at the Randolph Sr. Center to meet Dr. Almuhannad Alfrhan who currently resides in Chicago. Alfrhan is considering replacing Dr. Neil Sheppard at the doctor’s practice here in Randolph. He is a native of Syria.

RANDOLPH — Seventy two ladies played three person best ball Monday for fun night at the Randolph Community Course, with 46 of those ladies, Randolph residents. First place went to the team of Sindee Schmit, Jackie Backer and LaRee Gubbels.

RANDOLPH — Lil’s Ladies celebrated their team’s 10th anniversary with a fourth place finish in the Tri-County Women’s Softball League Tournament, and a third place finish in league standings.

Team members are: Jeri Schmit, Vicki Bargstadt, Traci Strathman, Karen Dominisse, Lisa Gubbels, Janet Groen, Lillian Reed, Ann Brandl, Sindee Schmit, Diana Tagge-McGill, Melanie Strathman, Theresa Davis, Jody Blessen, Inga Brodersen, Patsy Gubbels, Pauline Miller and Jan Heese.

July 27, 2005

RANDOLPH — Ben Gubbels, son of Randy and Jenny Gubbels, recently donated his time and energy to applying paint to the two sets of bleachers as his Eagle Scout project.

Ben along with family members started by spending eight hours power washing both sets of bleachers before primer could be applied. The primer took close to 24 hours of working to complete. Once the painting step came into play Gubbels enlisted the help of 16 scouts. On July 16 these young men and some of their parents tackled the project finishing in six and a half hours.

PIERCE — The Nebraska Pioneer Farm Family Award was presented to the Tim and Sue Lenhoff family at the Pierce County Fair.

The Family was recognized by The Knights of Ak-Sar-Ben as a farm family whose land has been owned by one family member or another of the same family for 100 years or more.

HARTINGTON — The latest U.S. Census Bureau estimates show the area’s population decline is continuing at alarming rates.
