Bishop Martin Marty Memorial Chapel to celebrate 75th Jubilee

YANKTON, S.D. — The Sisters of Sacred Heart Monastery are hosting a public Dedication Mass for the 75th Anniversary of the Bishop Marty Chapel, Yankton.

Bishop Donald DeGrood of the Sioux Falls Diocese is scheduled to preside over the Mass July 27, at 10 a.m.

Developed under the leadership of Mother Jerome Schmitt, OSB, the chapel was completed and consecrated It features stained glass windows designed by Ss. Leonarda Longen, Jane Klimisch and Jerome Schmitt, and is made of Lannon stone, Bedford stone, sandstone, and white oak.

The Chapel stands 187 ½ feet tall from the ground to the tip of the cross.
