COLERIDGE — The American Legion Post #114 and its Auxiliary Unit #114 held their monthly meeting July 7 at the Coleridge Community Building. The units jointly recited the Pledge of Allegiance and then they separated and held their monthly meetings.
President V. Gullicksen called the meeting to order. Gullicksen gave a reading, and a prayer followed by a moment of silence in memory or our departed.
Secretary Brenda Lage called the role with six members responding. She also read the minutes of the May meeting and they were approved as read. The treasurer’s report was given. Motion by M. Storm and seconded by W. Durham to approve the treasurer’s report and to pay bills presented.
Old Business: President Gullicksen discussed Memorial Day Dinner and poppies. Members as a committee discussed ordering more poppies and are waiting at this time, we sent in our poppies proceeds to department along with officers of the auxiliary, plus membership viewing online. President V. Gullicksen handed out 2026 Membership dues packet at this time. We did collect some 2026 membership dues at the meeting.
President V. Gullicksen received a letter from Girl’s State Rep, Kennedy Hall. She talked about her experience at Girl’s State. She is planning to come in August to our meeting to give a presentation on Girl’s State with the members.
Upcoming events: District Breakfast Fundraiser will be held in South Sioux City this year in October, Discussion was held on hosting Bingo at The Embers in August in the evening, with our members providing bingo prizes and helping with the event. Lage will reach out to The Embers to see what night would work.
The next meeting will be Aug. 4, 2025. The meeting was adjourned.
