His run enabled the Hartington squad to squeeze out a close 1-0 win over Tecumseh in their Class C State Tournament opener at Malcolm. (left) Hudson Whitmire slides under the tag safely into second base in the tightly contested first round game with Tecumseh. In their second game, Hartington earned a big win over Loomis on Sunday before falling 1-0 to defending state champion Malcolm on Monday. The squad played again Tuesday for the right to advance to Wednesday’s State title game.
