Wet weather doesn’t stop Dixon County Fair
CONCORD — The Dixon County Fair went on pretty much as scheduled despite a rainy and mud-filled few days.
Full of inflatables, competitions, food and weather scares the Dixon County Fair was able to push through all but one of its nightly events.
Due to lightning, the Rock Party Rodeo was canceled, but they still needed a winner.
“While it is true we don’t get rained out, we get rained on, we can’t buck ‘em with lightning and a full list of weather warnings,” said the Party Rock Rodeo Facebook page. “Still had a buckle to compete for, though, so foot race it was.”
Trent Frazee won the muddy race and “took home the hardware” from the canceled event.
All of the other events went on as planned, and the fair thanked the participants for their perseverance.
“We extend our gratitude to everyone who braved the weatherrelated challenges with us,” organizers said.
The same spirit of dedication was on full display in the 4-H competitions.
Members showed off their hard work across numerous categories, earning ribbons and plaques for everything from livestock to table displays.
Inside the exhibit hall, fairgoers admired homemade crafts, gardengrown vegetables, table décor and more.
Weather may have tested the schedule, but it couldn’t shake the spirit of Dixon County, proving that this community shows up, rain or shine.
