RANDOLPH — A downtown Randolph business is making plans to celebrate its 30th year under local operation this weekend. Sam’s Hardware Hank co-owned by Kenneth (Sam) and Nancy Reineke will host a community open house on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The store actually traces its local ancestry back more than 30 years when George Reed started a hardware store in the present location of Chauncey’s Bar & Bowl back in 1933.

RANDOLPH — Supt. Dave Hamm — on duty at his first regular Randolph School Board meeting on Monday — recommended the bus routes be decreased in number from five to four.

Hamm said this would save approximately 2,600 miles per year as well as salary costs and wear and tear on busses. The longest route will still be 35 miles round trip from school and back, Hamm said.

The board approved the recommendation and debated which bus driver should be released since there will be one less route.

Additional concern was voiced as to whose responsibility it is to make the personnel decision, the board or the transportation director.
