HARTINGTON — After its 11th studio album “Party Heard Around the World” was released in April, country music group Lonestar made plans to bring the party to Hartington.
On Saturday, the band will do just that when it headlines the grandstand concert at the 2010 Cedar County Fair at 8:30 p.m.
“Fairs provide a wide age range, and are about family, friends, festivities, rides and junk food,” lead guitarist Michael Britt said. “For us to be the highlight of something like that is great and definitely something we enjoy.”

BLAIR — Area students now have one less option when it comes to attending a small, in-state college.
Located in Blair, Dana College announced June 30 it would be closing its doors to faculty, staff and students following 126 years of service. After a group of investors made plans to buy the school four months ago, the Higher Learning Commission denied its request for accreditation, which forced the college to shut down.

HARTINGTON — A proposed road project involving the city, county and two schools has several road blocks to get through before it can become reality.
Cedar County Commissioner Dave McGregor, County Road Supt. Kathy Uhl and Engineer Jeff Waggner met with the Hartington City Council concerning access to 882 Road, which is on the south edge of Hartington.

HARTINGTON — City Council members addressed concerns they have for the fields at the Community Complex and tabled a request from the Hartington VFW Club.
Council members upped the price for Cedar Catholic Jr. – Sr. High School to use the practice/soccer field at the Community Complex for one more year. Cedar Catholic Principal Terry Kathol asked the council if Cedar Catholic football players could use the practice field at the Community Complex for one more year.
