Trio of Fairs gives area residents plenty of options

HARTINGTON — Fair time in northeast Nebraska isn’t a simple undertaking — it’s a four-week affair.

The Dixon County Fair begins this Wednesday in Concord and runs through Sunday.

Randolph’s big event of the year — the Randolph Community Fair — gets underway Friday and runs through Sunday.

Next up is the Cedar County Fair in Hartington, which runs from July 16-20. That is followed by the Pierce County Fair, which takes place from July 23-27.

Randolph’s three-day event begins Friday with the Lied Randolph Public Library Family Fun Night in the city park.

Saturday marks the second day of the fair and begins with the livestock show at 8:30 a.m. The day winds up with a street dance.

The event wraps up Sunday with a free BBQ in the park and community awards.

The Cedar County Fair gets underway next Wednesday with a free hamburger feed and the always popular Cedar County Talent Show.

The PRCA rodeo comes to town on Thursday. The day’s events also include a dairy show, bucket calf show as well as the rabbit and poultry shows.

The three-day CedarStock Music Festival begins on Friday with country music singer Dylan Marlowe taking the grandstand stage.

The day also features beef, sheep and goat livestock shows.

Saturday night’s headliner will be country music’s Chase Rice. Saturday will also feature a swine show, a horse show and a corn hole tournament.

Ashley Cook takes the stage Sunday night. The day will also feature barrel racing, the 4H Round Robin competition and a kids’ pedal pull.
