HARTINGTON — One more event has been checked off the list in preparation of the 2025 Cedar County Fair.
On June 28 many 4-Hers gathered at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hartington for Pre-Fair Day. They spent the morning talking to judges for both the construction of their projects along with modeling.
After a successful morning it was time for the public Style Show. At the public Style Show the 4-Hers were able to model what they made to their family and friends.
Results from the Fashion Show were:
The Consumer Management category; for the $20 Shopping Challenge under 12 Reserve Champion was Ashley Schmit and Champion was Heidi Lewon; in the $20 Shopping Challenge 12 and over Reserve Champion was Tenley Schmit and Champion was Brianna Jensen. In Shopping in Style the Reserve Champion was Brianna Jensen and Champion was Heidi Lewon. Both Heidi and Brianna are eligible to represent Cedar County at the Nebraska State Fair.
Next up was the Constructed Clothing categories. For STEAM Clothing 1 the Reserve Champion was Maya Lammers and Champion was Heidi Lewon. STEAM Clothing 1 is the division where a 4-Her exhibits a simple article requiring basic sewing skills. These exhibits could be anything from a pillowcase, simple pillow, bag/ purse, or a simple top, bottom, dress or romper.
In STEAM Clothing 2 the Reserve Champion was Maleah Heimes and Champion was Tenley Schmit. STEAM Clothing 2 consists of 4-Her’s exhibits entered in this project must reflect at least one new skill learned. Some examples could be a top or bottom, dress, or a two-piece outfit.
To end the Style Show we had projects in the Beyond the Needle class with Reserve Champion being Ruth Heimes and Champion Heidi Lewon.
Before the lights were cut and curtains closed, the overall Champion and Reserve Champion still had to be named.
This year’s 2025 overall Cedar County Reserve Grand Champion was Heidi Lewon and this year’s 2025 overall Cedar County Grand Champion was Tenley Schmit.
Heidi Lewon, Tenley Schmit, Maleah Heimes and Ruth Heimes are all eligible to represent Cedar County at the Nebraska State Fair.
Organizers said they want to publically thank the parents of all the 4-Hers for helping them get ready for this day. They also noted they appreciate all the award sponsors; Main Street Treasures, Bank of Hartington, First Northeast Bank of Nebraska, Farmers & Merchants State Bank, Citizens State Bank, First State Bank of Randolph, and Floral Designs.
