HARTINGTON—Hail stones that fell here June 23 bombed the area with over a million dollars in damage, local insurance agents say. Tom Tideman of Tideman Insurance Company estimated damage in excess of a million dollars.

HARTINGTON—Area outdoorsmen recently formed an outdoor sportsmen group for residents in Cedar, Dixon and Knox counties. Currently, the group has 85 members and has scheduled its first meeting.

BOW VALLEY — Grapevines have been under cultivation in Cedar County since the early days when settlers began growing them for their families.
Building on that tradition, Tim and Dave Nissen - owners of Nissen Brothers Vineyard south of Bow Valley - have seven acres of grapes, 3500 vines and an ambition to make their valueadded agricultural enterprise pay off.
The Nissen brothers hosted 30 guests at a University of Nebraska Extension Viticulture Field Day.

HARTINGTON — Tim and Deb Harms are using the latest technology to get better gas mileage.
The only way you would know they are driving a hybrid/electric car is by the word ‘Hybrid’ near the tail light on the back of their steel gray Honda Civic.
Harms’ purchased the hybrid car in March mainly for fuel economy.
“We have put around 6,000 miles on it, and we are getting 47 to 48 miles per gallon of gas with it,” said Harms.
