TOPEKA, Kan. – Wynot students came out well in a recent national contest.
Studentreasures Publishing announced Wynot was one of the 50 finalists in the 2024-2025 National Book Challenge.
For this honor, each of the classes will receive a $50 gift card and every student will receive a published author certificate.
These books, produced by the finalists, were published earlier this year through Studentreasures’ free publishing program.
“I am so very proud of these eighth grade students and the hard work they put into making this book. This is an amazing honor to be a finalist.” said Julie Heimes, Wynot eighth grade writing teacher.
These books were selected from entries across the country. The considerations to be awarded as a Top 50 book are originality, creative storyline and colorful illustrations.
This nationwide contest was open to more than 77,000 books submitted to Studentreasures for free publishing this school year.
“At Studentreasures, we are fortunate to witness tremendous creativity and talent from classrooms around the country,” said Chad Zimmerman, President and Chief Executive Officer at Studentreasures. “We especially congratulate all the students for earning this unique achievement and completing a project that provides lasting memories and a one-of-a-kind keepsake.”
About “The Voting Mystery”
This book is about a school that needs to find a new principal. They decide to have a student be the principal.
So students vote and just as they are done voting someone steals the box with all the votes in it. Then they try again and go through the candidates and each one tells what they would do as principal. The students vote again and announce the winner. As the new principal takes the students on a field trip, someone is fishing and “caught” the box with the original votes from the first election.
