Reader disagrees with new chicken ordinance

From Our Readers

This chicken ordinance is a bunch of garbage. Is Hartington the last place in America that is trending towards “buy local eat local?”

What are you going to do to a 10 year old kid who wants to raise chickens and can’t pay your fines? Lock him up? What’s next? Outlaw gardens?

Seattle, home of Bill Gates - the largest farmland owner in America - who wants us to eat bio-engineered meat and bugs - in Seattle it’s legal to raise chickens. They have stores in the city of Seattle that sell feed and supplies. My nephew, Chad Pinkelman, lives in an up-scale neighborhood in the Seattle area. He raises chickens and even has a swing set for his ladies.

Maybe, if you’re not too busy looking down your noses at people who raise chickens or who live in homes not up to your standards, search YouTube: “Joel Salatin: The city that gave away chickens.”
