WAKEFIELD – Several area residents are featured in a new production at The Little Red Hen Theatre.
The Wakefield troupe will present Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, with performances running July 18, 19, 20 and July 25, 26, 27.
The play is a beloved favorite packed with energy, humor, and unforgettable tunes, this production marks a special 30th anniversary revival of the theatre’s first production of Joseph, originally staged in 1994.
With music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Tim Rice, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat tells the story of Joseph, the favored son of Jacob, whose jealous brothers sell him into slavery. But Joseph’s prophetic dreams, unshakable faith, and a knack for interpreting visions lift him from prison to power— eventually reuniting him with the very brothers who betrayed him.
Filled with a kaleidoscope of musical styles— from calypso to country- western, rock ’n’ roll to French ballad—Joseph is a fun, fast-paced, sung-through musical that’s perfect for the whole family. Whether you’re 9 or 99, you’ll leave the theatre humming classics like “Any Dream Will Do,” “Go, Go, Go Joseph,” and “Close Every Door.”
“This show is pure joy,” says Goos. “It’s glitter, laughter, biblical drama, and Elvis all rolled into one. What’s not to love? Originally staged in 1994, Joseph launched The Little Red Hen Theatre’s journey into musical theatre. In a full-circle moment, the production returns in 2025 with Managing Director T.
