Hochstein, Freeman earn All American honors
A pair of Hartington wrestlers are making a name for themselves as they competed against some of the best in the United States.
Easton Hochstein and Evie Freeman were both named All Americans for their efforts with the Nebraska All Star wrestling teams at the AAU Scholastic National Duals meet in Florida last week.
Hochstein earned Cedar Catholic’s first-ever state championship last season. Freeman became Cedar’s first-ever girls wrestling team member to medal at state, winning the bronze medal last February.
Hochstein compiled a 10-3 record, helping the team earn a sixth-place finish at Nationals.
This is the Highest finish in the All Star Division by a Nebraska Boys team at the AAU National Duals.
Earlier this summer, he became a three-time Grecco Roman wrestling state champion.
Freeman posted an 11-2 record and won Top 10 most pins on the tournament.
Freeman’s team finished in third place at the event.
“We are so grateful for all the support and well wishes,” said her dad, John Freeman. “She is blessed with the best coaches from the Cedar Catholic Trojan wrestling and supporters. We are so proud of her and her hard work.”
