Dairy Month is proclaimed during special event at Governor's mansion

LINCOLN — In the backyard of the governor’s mansion on June 6, the Nebraska State Dairy Association was joined by officials from the governor’s office, several dozen kids and a baby cow, all celebrating the dairy industry.

Lt. Gov. Joe Kelly shared a proclamation signed by Gov. Jim Pillen, once again marking June as Nebraska Dairy Month.

He said the industry is often overlooked in the agricultural sector, but is “very important to Nebraska.”

“It also plays in so well with what we’re hearing in Washington and in particular from Governor Pillen about feeding our children good, safe products,” Kelly said.

The kids in attendance came from a local daycare center nearby and got to enjoy milk and ice cream from Hiland Dairy.
