June 14, 2000

RANDOLPH — Observers and motorists along the Nebraska Northeastern Railway between Osmond and Jackson saw an interesting sight Saturday as a group of motorized railcar enthusiasts from across the Midwest gathered for a round trip excursion on the railroad.

Members from the First Iowa Division of the North American Railcar Operators Association gathered early Saturday for a 60-mile trip on the line. The daylong event marked the second time the group has conducted a run on the Osmond-based railroad. A number of group members stayed in Randolph at the Cedar Motel.

The second floor of the structure was taken down using a large I-beam attached to the boom of a back hoe. The machine was operated by Larry Janssen of Frahm Construction.
