HARTINGTON — The new pipe organ for the Holy Trinity Catholic Church arrived the first part of this week and is being installed by the builder, Gustav Treu of St. Louis.
Mr. Treu is an experienced builder of pipe organs having built some of the largest instruments in the United States, including one recently completed in the Holy Trinity Church of St. Louis, which contains nearly 2,000 pipes.
The organ here will consist of 710 pipes of various metals and of wood, varying in length from one inch to 16 feet.
There are two keyboards to be operated by the hands and one by the feet. The organ also includes five foot treadles.
The air pressure to operate the organ will be furnished by hand power temporarily, but may be attached to an electric motor in the fu ture.
The instrument is beautifully fininished in oak, the front consisting of neatly arranged decorated pipes. Mr. Treu says that there is not a prettier instrument in Omaha.
