HARTINGTON - The Hartington Heat 14 and Under softball team took care of Randolph in a doubleheader June 10 played in Hartington and won a single game against the same team on June 12 in Randolph.
In the game on June 12 in Randolph, the Heat exploded for seven runs in the first inning and pounded out 15 hits over the entire contest on the way to the third consecutive win over their neighbors to the south.
Hartington opened with four singles and a double to command from the first pitch.
Nora Lange singled with a bunt followed by singles from Hadley Grutsch, Vayda Lippert and Jocelyn Reyes.
Kierstan Hans calmly stepped to the plate and doubled past the centerfielder, and the Heat were up 3-0.
Ella Kelly was hit by the Randolph pitcher then Natalee Hart singled back up the middle.
Brooklyn Peters hammered a home run to left field and Hartington was up by the 7-0 score.
In the second, Hart doubled to left field which sent Lippert and Reyes across the plate and the teams went to the bottom of the second stanza with the score, 9-0.
Grutsch got the win in the circle with Kelly coming on in relief as the duo combined to limit Randolph to just three hits and the single run.
In the nightcap of the double header in Hartington on June 10, the two team played to a 4-4 tie at the end of the first inning.
The Heat posted a couple of runs in second then put the game away in the third with eight runs to claim the win.
Grutsch and Lippert each went 3-for-3 on the night, Lange, Addie Simons and Peyton Kloster all had two hits apiece.
Reyes smacked a double. In the first game of the three-game series, Hartington scored 16 runs on just two hits on the way to the 16-0 final score.
Lippert smacked a double and Lange hit a single to account for the hits in the contest for the Heat.
Hans took the win in the circle going three innings while allowing just two hits and striking out eight.
The Heat was set to travel to travel to Plainview for a doubleheader on June 17 then travel to Creighton on June 19.
Hartington will be in a tournament in Crofton June 20.
