Troopers remove 80 impaired drivers in recent Make It Click campaign

LINCOLN — Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol (NSP) removed 80 impaired drivers from the road during the Make It Click campaign.

During the campaign, which ran from May 12 through June 1, troopers arrested 80 drivers for driving under the influence.

Troopersalsoissued122citations for seat belt and child safety seat violations.

In total, troopers issued citations for speeding (1,812), including 59 citations for speeding at over 100 miles per hour, no seat belt (91), improper child restraint (31), open alcohol container (58), minor in possession (35), and driving under suspension (132). Troopers also performed 665 motorist assists during the campaign.

“For many Nebraskans, summer is full of excitement, from vacations to enjoying all the state has to offer withfamilyandfriends,”saidColonel Bryan Waugh, Superintendent of the Nebraska State Patrol. “As the season continues, we want you to have a safe and fun summer. To do that, we need to work together to keep Nebraska’s roadways safe for all who travel them. Remember to wear your seat belt, put your phone down, and always drive sober.”

The Make It Click campaign was made possible thanks in part to a grant from the Nebraska Department of Transportation – Highway Safety Office. NSP encourages any motorist who observes a dangerous driver to report it to the NSP Highway Helpline by calling *55.
