2020: Only limited Fair events are planned this year

HARTINGTON — Shock and disbelief were Fr. Cyril Werner’s reactions after Mass Saturday evening when he stepped out of Holy Trinity church and found a new Mercury parked at the entrance of the church, bearing a large sign, “Congratulations, Fr. Werner, on your 35th Anniversary, from Your Parishioners.” The occasion marked the 35th Anniversary of the Rev. Cyril Werner’s ordination into the Priesthood.

HARTINGTON — Drawings for dairy products. Dairy Days sales, a poster contest, and a dairy princess contest will highlight Hartington’s observance of the beginning of Dairy Month this week.

Hartington businesses will be discounting hundreds of items on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, June 5,6 and 7 as they observe Dairy Days here. Many businesses will conduct drawings for free dairy products. Many area youngsters participated in a poster contest, sponsored by the Hartingotn Chamber of Commerce.

HARTINGTON — The Cedar County Ag Society announced this week, they plan to hold a scaled down version of the Cedar County Fair this year.

The modified event will take place Thursday, July 16 - Sunday, July 19.

Due to the restrictions established by the Nebraska Department of Health there will be changes to the event schedule, capacity and event procedures.

Several events and activities had to be cancelled, including: Cedar County Fair Rodeo Talent Show Midway Hamburger Feed Old Time Fiddlers Ice Cream Social Peddle Pull Open Class Exhibits

As of now, the tractor pull, sand volleyball tournament, cornhole tournament, and barrel racing will still take place, as well as concerts by Lanco and Jimmy Allen.
