CONCORD — An area church will mark a big milestone in June. Concordia Lutheran Church of Concord will celebrate its 140th anniversary on June 8.
The church has grown considerably since its humble beginnings in 1885 when area pastors would make occasional visits and held services in the Swen G. Anderson home, Southwest of Concord. In 1885, services were moved to the train depot on the south edge of Concord.
Pastor Deb Hammer, the 24th pastor in the church’s history, will preside over a special anniversary service to be held June 8 at 10:15 a.m. to celebrate the big occasion.
Special guest speaker, Pastor Heidi Wallace will take part in the celebration. All past and present congregation members, families, friends, and community members are urged to attend.
A meal celebration will follow.
