RANDOLPH — Vernon Viergutz, president of the First State Bank, announced this week that arrangements have been made for the purchase of lots and real estate on which location a new bank building will be constructed to house the First State Bank.
The site includes the used car lot at Randolph’s main intersection, formerly owned by V. C. Havorka, Jr. and the former post office building. Dr. G. E. Peters previously owned this structure.
Mr. Viergutz said he expects that construction of a modern bank building will start within a year.
The First State Bank has always been housed in its present location since it was chartered in 1935.
Prior to that time the building was the home of the First National Bank. The structure was built in 1890.
