HARTINGTON—Friends, former students and family members gathered to help send Myron Riddle into retirement.
Riddle is retiring as principal at Hartington Public Schools after serving in that post since 1975.

HARTINGTON—The 2000 American Legion baseball season begins this week. The Wayne Midgets come to town for a contest. The season will have 16 games in the regular season.

HARTINGTON—Tim Koehler has been named as Hartington High School’s new principal.
Koehler is the third principal at the school in the last three years.
Dave Zimmer resigned in 2004 to pursue a career in public speaking.
Long-time HPS science teacher Jess Wolf replaced Zimmer, but resigned this year after being elected as the Neb. Education Assoc. President. Koehler will begin his duties July 1.

HARTINGTON— Troy Jorgensen entered a Not Guilty plea in Cedar County District Court Monday to first Degree murder.
Jorgensen, 34, entered his plea Monday. Jorgensen faces charges in the April 10 death of Josh Kroc, 29.

HARTINGTON— Area veterans have planned several special activities to commemorate their fallen comrades during Memorial Day here Monday. The Color Guard will begin the day with 7 a.m. ceremonies at Paragon Cemetery north of Hartington.

OMAHA— The Cedar Catholic boys track team finished 18th at the State meet. The Trojans placed in three events.
These were the most individual medals ever won by a Cedar boys team.
Preston Leise demonstrated why he was selected the team’s MVP as he set two school records with his bronze medal performance in the long jump and fourth in the triple jump.
