COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Hartington native Sara Reifenrath will be competing against the best in the country this week.
Reifeinrath is one of the University of South Dakota track and field’s 19 individuals, totaling 22 entries, that will take part in NCAA West First Rounds in College Station, Texas running Wednesday through Saturday.
The NCAA West First Rounds take the top 48 accepted entries in individual events and the top 24 relays from the region. The top 12 finishers in individual events from the West First Round will head to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon in June.
The men’s events run Wednesday and Friday at the home of Texas A&M, with the women’s events competing Thursday and Saturday.

South Dakota is sending 19 athletes to the NCAA West First Rounds, highlighted by nine pole vaulters.
This is the eighth-straight meet South Dakota has qualified 19 or more entries to the NCAA West. The Coyotes account for 22 of the Summit League’s 59 entries into the West First Rounds.
