Legion, Auxiliary prepare for Memorial Day services

COLERIDGE - The American Legion Post #114 and its Auxiliary Unit #114 held their monthly meeting May 5 at the Coleridge Community Building. The units jointly recited the Pledge of Allegiance and then they separated and held their monthly meetings. President V. Gullicksen called the meeting to order. Secretary Brenda Lage called the role with seven members responding. She also read the minutes of the April meeting. Motion by J. Burbach seconded by M. Storm to approve minutes as read. The treasurer's report was given, and motion by M. Storm and seconded by J. Burbach, to approve the treasurer's report and to pay bills presented. At this time, the members worked on poppies for the crosses for Memorial Day to honor our departed Veterans at our local cemeteries. President Gullicksen is asking members to bring a dessert or two pies for dinner/donation for American Legion Memorial Dinner May 26, serving from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. A program will be held at the Veteran Memorial at 11 a.m., followed by dinner at the Coleridge Community Building. The Avenue of Flags will be put up May 22, at 5 p.m., followed by poppy crosses being placed at the cemeteries. All members are asked to come and help with the activities. The next meeting will be June 2.
